Book by the hour
Hourly elder care for an older parent at home
Book an elder care attendant through the MeeHelp app for the hours you can't be there: a day at the office, a trip out of town, or an afternoon when your parent shouldn't be alone.
Elder care is for an older person who is managing day to day but needs company, a steady hand and someone to keep to their routine. If they are ill or recovering, book patient care instead.

How it works in the app
- Elder care is its own task in an hourly booking, separate from patient care: choose it when an older family member needs company and help with their routine.
- Bookings run for 2 to 12 hours, in 2-hour steps. Later start times allow shorter bookings only.
- Schedule at least 2 hours ahead and up to 5 days ahead, for a start time between 7 AM and 8 PM.
- The app checks your address — city, pincode and map location — and tells you if your area isn't covered yet.
- Each task shows what's included and what isn't before you confirm.
- You can ask for a male or female helper. The extra charge for this applies only if a helper of that gender is assigned; otherwise the first available helper comes.
- The helper's details appear once you've paid, and the job starts when you share the PIN shown in your app.
When people book hourly elder care
- You'll be out all day and don't want your parent home alone.
- Your parent has a routine check-up and needs someone to go along.
- Their usual carer, or the family member who helps, needs a day off.
- They like company in the afternoons and the house is empty.

What MeeHelp checks when a helper registers
When a helper registers on MeeHelp:
- Mobile number verified by OTPEach helper's mobile number is verified with a one-time password when they register.
- Aadhaar document collected and manually reviewedEach helper submits their Aadhaar document when they register, and MeeHelp reviews it by hand. The address on that document is available to MeeHelp.
MeeHelp reviews the helper's Aadhaar document to check their identity. It is not a police verification or a background check, and MeeHelp does not separately check where the helper lives — so follow the tips below as well.
Tips for your booking
- Write down your parent's routine, medicines, mobility needs and emergency contacts for the attendant.
- Check the helper's details in the app before they arrive, and share the start PIN only when they're at your door.
- Approve the helper's entry with your society or building security before the booked time.
- Keep cash, jewellery and important documents locked away during the visit.
Hourly Elder Care: frequently asked questions
What's the difference between elder care and patient care?
They are separate tasks when you book, though the needs can overlap. Elder care is daily-living help, routine and company for an older person. Patient care is attendant support for someone who is ill, recovering or bedridden, at any age.
Can the attendant take my parent to the doctor?
Yes, for a routine appointment. Book enough hours to cover the journey and the wait, and agree beforehand how travel will be paid.
Is this medical care?
No. An elder care attendant gives non-medical support. For injections, wound care or other medical needs, ask your parent's doctor about a qualified nurse.
What if my parent needs someone every day?
Hourly bookings suit occasional days. For daily help, a regular arrangement with one person may suit your parent better.
