Patient care attendants at home
When someone at home is unwell, recovering from surgery or bedridden, they may need an attendant by their side for most of the day — or night. On MeeHelp you see care attendants near your address, contact them directly and hire part-time or a full-time attendant who lives in.
Patient care is attendant support, not nursing: personal care, moving and turning, food and water, reminders for prescribed oral medicines and, where the caregiver is trained, basic monitoring reported to the family.
When families look for this help
- A family member has come home from hospital and needs help through the day.
- Someone at home is bedridden and needs turning, washing and changing.
- A patient needs help to move safely while they recover.
- Family members can't be at home through the day or night.

What you see and choose in the app
- Hire part-time help for 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 hours a day, or full-time help who lives in with you.
- Choose the hours a day you need help and, if you have one, a gender preference.
- Matching helpers near your address are listed with their distance in km. Sort the list by distance, or by date to see who joined most recently.
- Each profile shows the helper's experience, the work they do, their age, marital status and education, and whether they read, write and speak English. Salary isn't listed — you agree it with the helper.
- "View Contact" uses one contact from your plan. You can then call the helper, chat in the app or message them on WhatsApp.
- After a call you can mark what happened — interviewed, hired, didn't answer or didn't turn up.
- If you want a trial day, agree it with the helper directly — when it is, what they'll do and what you'll pay for it.
- Don't pay a helper in advance for work they haven't done. The app shows the same reminder.
- Ask to see the helper's ID before they start. Checking documents is the employer's responsibility, and MeeHelp recommends that you arrange police verification once you have hired someone.
- The app checks your address — city, pincode and map location — and tells you if your area isn't covered yet.

What MeeHelp checks when a helper registers
When a helper registers on MeeHelp:
- Mobile number verified by OTPEach helper's mobile number is verified with a one-time password when they register.
- Aadhaar document collected and manually reviewedEach helper submits their Aadhaar document when they register, and MeeHelp reviews it by hand. The address on that document is available to MeeHelp.
MeeHelp reviews the helper's Aadhaar document to check their identity. It is not a police verification or a background check, and MeeHelp does not separately check where the helper lives — so follow the tips below as well.
Tips for hiring
- Keep the doctor's instructions, discharge summary and medicine schedule where the attendant can see them.
- Speak to the helper on the phone, and meet them before they start.
- See their original ID in person when you meet.
- Many housing societies and local police ask households to register domestic staff. Check what your building and city require.
- Agree the tasks, hours, salary, weekly off and notice period clearly — in writing if you can.
- Start with a trial before you commit.
- Keep cash, jewellery and important documents locked away, especially in the first few weeks.

Patient Care: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a patient attendant and a nurse?
An attendant helps with personal care, moving, food and medicine reminders. Injections, IV drips and other medical procedures need a qualified nurse and are not part of patient care on MeeHelp.
Can an attendant look after a bedridden patient?
Yes — turning and repositioning, sponge baths, adult diapers and bedpans are part of patient care. Describe the patient's condition and any equipment at home, such as a hospital bed or wheelchair, when you speak to attendants.
Can the attendant monitor temperature or blood pressure?
Where the assigned caregiver is trained to, they can take readings and tell you or the doctor. They do not diagnose or change treatment.
Is patient care the same as elder care?
They overlap, and the same care attendants do both. Patient care is for someone who is ill, recovering or bedridden, at any age; elder care is daily-living support and company for an older person.
